PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Personal lettering project. We portray people we happened to know, or we admire.
Personal lettering project. We portray people we happened to know, or we admire.
Our aim is to capture the person's personality/essence in type. Sometimes the process is quick, sometimes we realise – after completing it – that the final outcome does not represent the person fully so we start over. And sometimes we draw a new composition because our perception of the person shifts from a shallow state to a deeper understanding.
The first lettering is a tribute to Edmund Hillary whom we admire for his sport and humanitarian achievements. We enjoy reading his books in which his light-hearted and kind personality shines through.
Levente (image 2–3) is a brilliant architect who runs Hetedik Műterem. The first take was only portraying his humanistic side. Than we went for a more constructive, stone carving direction with a contemporary, edgy twist on the serifs.
Niki Lauda passed away this year. We respected his work ethic and his commitment towards his profession. He suffered a horrific accident at the German Grand Prix in 1976 but six weeks later he returned to race. He showed exceptional determination to go back to what he loved the most.
We met only couple of times but Boldizsár had quite an impact on us. He is disciplined, has a strong opinion about life and stuff, and has a great eye for beautiful details of the world. He also serves at the Military of Hungary and climbs mountains.
Daniel is a classmate of ours from Royal Academy of The Hague. According to a common friend, he has spaghetti arms.
