In statu nascendi (in the course of being formed or developed) is a selection by the renowned French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy’s writings on art.
“Each time I come into the world, that is to say every day, the curtain of my eyelids is lifted on something that cannot be called a spectacle, for I am already caught by it, mixed into it, carried along it by all the forces of my body which moves forward towards this world,…”*

The front cover depicts the state of the not being // not seeing // yet. Reading the book is
the act when “the curtain of my eyelids is lifted on something”*. Once the reader has read
the whole book, closed the last page, the open eyes see something, “something that cannot
be called a spectacle”*. The placement of the tactile blind embossing in the field of vision
reflects on this train of thought.

The title is placed on the spine symbolising the body of the book. Between the two states.
